Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is a two-step process. First you download the installation package, and then you install Acrobat Reader DC from that package file. You do not have to remove the older version of Reader before installing Acrobat Reader DC.
Before you install, always make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements.
You need Mac OS X 10.9 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If your operating system is older,
you can install an earlier version of Reader. For step-by-step instructions, see Install an older version of Adobe Reader on Mac OS.
Note:
Not sure which version of Mac OS you have? Click the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of your screen, then choose About This Mac.
Go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page and click Install now.

I was almost finished the first of our 4 Mac labs when I realized there were several updates pending and Adobe has released a new 3D product called Felix which I had added to a new pkg file created with Adobe CCP. Not kidding.it was the best advice ever, since a cocktail containing their downloadable Creative Suite removal script, along with their AAMEE Uninstaller PKG, along with our own custom script, couldn't wipe all the Adobe crap off the Macs. Its amazing how much better it is now.but yea, not sure how effective their CCP Uninstaller PKGs are, since their installers are more or less hacks.wrapped in pretty PKGs.:). Which means I have to deploy a second pkg to install that as well as running RUM to install the pending updates. I guess the next step is to ask the stupid question, can I get Casper to automate CC 2015/16 removal and installation of CC 2017?
Double-click the .dmg file. (If you don't see the Safari Downloads window, click Finder > (User Name) > Downloads.)

We've got two Macs that are both running 10.6.6. On my MBP, Adobe (Acrobat) Reader started behaving weird a few weeks ago. It became very sluggish, started missing mouse clicks or mouse button releases, scrolling was next to impossible. Most of the time it does not handle Page Up / Page Down events at all. Zooming works erratically if at all. It's basically unusable. On the other Mac (an iMac), there are no such problems. I've tried to remove and reinstall Adobe Reader as well as upgrading to the latest version, but unfortunately without success. This is the only software that is behaving strangely on this Mac, everything else is working fine. What else could I try?

Do you have RightZoom installed? Create an exclusion for Adobe Reader in RightZoom (Cmd+click RightZoom app).

I hope this solves your problem; I just solved this on my own system today.
(If you don't have RightZoom installed, open up a guest account and log into that and see if Reader is slow there. I assume it is some incompatibility between Reader and another app or setting hack.)
If you're set in your ways of using Adobe Reader, try using something like AppCleaner to completely remove it, and attempt a reinstall. If that doesn't help, and everything else works, Preview should do the job for you without missing much.
